Our Story.

R&D Commercial Properties was founded by two friends and fellow co-workers, Ron Robinson (“the R”) and John Donatoni (“the D”) in 1981. John and Ron had worked together at the Polaroid Corporation prior to joining Ashwell-Burke Commercial Real Estate in San Jose. They had a dream to start their own company and become the masters of their own destinies. Their first project was a trend setter: John and Ron took a 10-story high rise office building in downtown San Jose and converted the building into office condominiums. The project was extremely successful and sold out within a year.

Ron decided to return to law school. John retained the company name and moved it to Walnut Creek in 1981. John has been leasing and selling commercial real estate for the last 30 years, growing from a one-person startup to a major factor in the Greater Walnut Creek real estate market. John’s tenacity, integrity and extensive knowledge of the commercial real estate market has been his formula for success.

John’s exceptional staff and agents, close relationships with other commercial real estate agents and loyal clientele are testaments to his honest and straightforward approach, providing continued success in today’s market.
